Formal discussions started in 1994 with Fire Chief Kline, Treasurer Stan Schneider and Rescue Squad President Kevin Blake, joined by the new Fire Company Presdient Mike Christian and Rescue Squad Captain Colin McKeown.
It was agreed upon by both organizations that an immediate merger would be beneficial. The driving factors being declining membership, a need to stimulate volunteerism in the township, along with stablizing the financial future of both organzations.
In 1997, the Green Brook Volunteer Rescue Squad came to an agreement with the Green Broook Township to sell their assets to the township. The assets of the Green Brook Volunteer Rescue Squad were placed in escrow to facilitate the upgrade and expansion of the Green Brook Volunteer Fire Company building to accommodate both volunteer organizations.
The merger was completed in the spring of 1999 and its union has been continuing to grow and flourish.
